Stanislav Grof, professor of psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies and Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California, is one of the fathers of transpersonal psychology. 50yrs as a pioneering researcher into the use of altered states of consciousness as a method of healing, growth, and insight. Grof's unique approach was influenced by Sandoz Pharmaceutical Laboratories in Switzerland, when in 1954 they sent a sample of a newly-developed lysergic acid diethylamide to the lab Groff worked in, to be studied and reported on.
